CO Marathi Shala is a project of the Colorado Marathi Mandal, and conducts in-person and online marathi language classes

Tuition Information
Member - $45 for the entire year per child enrolled.

Colorado Marathi Mandal's Marathi language shala 2023-24 season has begun.

Here's what you need to know about this academic year –  

Enrollment:  

1. Membership of Colorado Marathi Mandal is required to enroll your child(ren). Click here to become a member: (TUGOZ LINK)  

2. School Enrollment includes filling out the student information form, waiver and emergency contact form, and paying the applicable fees.  

3. Tuition Fee for the 2023-24 academic year is $45. Fees payable for BMM's exam are not included and will be notified once we have the information from BMM.

9. Fees can be paid online (TUGOZ LINK) or by check. We cannot accept fees in cash.  

10. If you are enrolling more than 1 child, please fill out the Student Information form, Waiver and Emergency form for each student. Fees can be paid in a single transaction by adding the number of children and including all names in the notes.  

11. Due to the number of volunteer teachers currently available and to ensure an efficient teacher - student ratio (of no more than 8 students per teacher), we are limiting the enrollments to 40 students.  
     

Class Levels and Instruction Model:  

1. Our school is modeled after Brihan Maharashtra Mandal of North America (BMM)'s Marathi Shala  

2. We will have 6 levels of classes, based on BMM's model. (Bal-Varga & BMM 1-5) 

3. Our classes are conducted by volunteer teachers who are also parents.  

4. This year, we will follow a hybrid approach of virtual and in-person sessions, on Sundays.  

5. Class duration is 2 hours (both virtual and in-person).  

6. The school year will begin on October 1, 2023, with an in-person session. We will reach out to parents of all fully enrolled children with the venue and time.  
    

School Calendar:  

1. The school calendar (available on request by emailing us) will help you prioritize other extracurricular activities, vacations etc. We will adjust the calendar and schedule to accommodate inclement weather and location availability and will inform parents in advance of any changes.  

2. We have tried our best to align our sessions and holidays according to holidays of local school districts.  

3. In-person classes: For students enrolled from other regions of Colorado (e.g., Boulder, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, etc.), instructional materials will be emailed in advance and children will be able to join virtually for activities. Our objective is to ensure that the children do not miss instruction time.  

4. Generally, the virtual classes are held Sunday mornings (10a-12p), and in-person on Sunday afternoons (2p-4p).  

5. In case of inclement weather on in-person instruction days, we will notify parents in advance.  
    

Examinations:  

1. Our shala will conduct exams 2x in the academic year; in December and in May (May dates will be finalized based on BMM's schedule for their exams)  

2. BMM's exam (jointly certified with Bharati Vidyapeeth Pune) will be conducted in the month of May. BMM will announce the schedule as we get closer to the date.  
    

Transfers:  

1. Families transferring from other BMM Marathi schools in North America may have the earlier school to email us directly on MarathiShala@comarathi.org  (Amar Keskar - CO Marathi - School Co-Ordinator) with the last completed level.  

2. For families transferring from other non-BMM Marathi schools in North America OR from any other school outside of North America, our teachers will complete a placement test, so the students are placed in the correct class.  

3. For families transferring OUT from our Marathi Shala to another BMM Marathi school in North America, we will provide the currently enrolled level (or last completed level) to the new school based on parent request.  
    

Volunteer Opportunities for Parents:  

1. We are always looking for volunteer teachers so we can keep our class size small, allowing volunteer teachers to provide individual attention to our students.  

2. Volunteering as a teacher requires a monthly commitment of just about 8-9 hours.  

3. Volunteers (me included) are subject to background checks (just like they're done for volunteering in any other K-12 school that our kids attend). Background checks are conducted by an independent third party.
